Dietitian and nutrition consultation services

Do you want a healthier diet, but don‘t know where to start?

At Copeman Healthcare we can tailor a nutrition program just for you.

Our Registered Dietitians will work with you to determine your goals and find the best options for you and your lifestyle. This is not a one size fits all approach. Our approach is individualized and evidence based.

We know that proper nutrition is an essential component of maintaining optimal health, preventing disease and managing chronic conditions. Medical research consistently shows that the incidence and severity of chronic illnesses is directly linked with poor nutrition and inactivity.

It is well documented that the reverse is also true, that consuming proper nutrients and staying active can offer dramatic health benefits.

Nutritional Counselling is an OPEN SERVICE at Copeman Healthcare, which means you do not need to be an existing client of the Centre to book an appointment.

How can I benefit from the services of a registered dietitian?

All of the Dietitians at Copeman Healthcare are registered either by the College of Dietitians of British Columbia or the College of Dietitians of Alberta. They are highly qualified healthcare professionals who can translate the science of nutrition into everyday meal plans.

A Registered Dietitian will work with you to improve your general health, prevent disease, and treat or manage acute or chronic conditions. They will help you navigate the many food myths and diet fads to ensure you make choices that are healthy, appealing and satisfying.

Nutritional & health optimization assessment

A comprehensive nutrition assessment evaluates your meal balance, frequency, and intake of fibre, salt, fats, vitamins, minerals and overall calories. The assessment also examines the relationship between your intake and the nutrients found in your blood (e.g. vitamin D, vitamin B12, glucose, cholesterol and others). Based on your results your Registered Dietitian will help you set personalized, achievable goals and longer-term plans for disease prevention.

Weight management services

Successful weight loss programs are not fads or short term commitments, but practical lifestyle modifications that result in lasting change. In the Copeman Healthcare weight management program Registered Dietitians will explore realistic options with you, set achievable goals and provide ongoing support. Services are delivered in one-on-one or group counselling settings (group counselling is available for LifePlus clients only).

Allergies and food intolerance services

If you have allergies or food intolerances, a Registered Dietitian will review your current diet and make recommendations based on the symptoms you’re experiencing.

Food elimination/challenge trials are typically the standard for determining food intolerances and can often lead to meal planning that offers a dramatic improvement in the quality of your life. Registered Dietitians will offer expertise and support for these trials, which can be challenging to navigate on your own.

Sports performance services

Nutrition can provide the energy and hydration needed to help you train harder and maximize your performance. A Registered Dietitian will evaluate your current intake against your body’s requirement for fluid, calories, protein, carbohydrate, fat and other nutrients.

This evaluation includes pre- and post- training meals or snacks and provides careful suggestions for any modifications that may be needed.

Nutrigenomics is the study of how nutrition and genes interact with each other to impact health and performance. This comprehensive genetic uses a saliva sample to test rates 45 genetic markers that will give you more information about what’s best for your body.

A personalized diet can optimize an individual’s nutritional understanding and empower them to focus on optimizing their energy levels and preventing diet-related diseases or conditions.

This test is optional for clients and currently available in Calgary and Edmonton.
