Family Health Nurse Practitioner
Kristen Dykalski is a family health nurse practitioner at the Copeman Healthcare Centre in Edmonton.
Kristen completed her Master of Nursing in Advanced Nursing Practice through Athabasca University. Prior to joining the Copeman team, Kristen was a nurse practitioner with the Alberta Thoracic Oncology Program (ATOP) in Edmonton. There she worked with thoracic surgeons and interventional pulmonologists managing patients with malignant and benign thoracic conditions. This included Pleural Effusion and Rapid Access clinics, where she performed thoracenteses, and facilitated timely diagnoses and oncological referrals for patients with non-surgical malignancies, and oncological emergencies.
Kristen received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing, with First Class Standing, at Lakehead University in Thunder Bay, Ontario. Her nursing career began in Thunder Bay’s Emergency Department. She moved to Peace River, Alberta, where she worked on the diverse small hospital unit, until she discovered the Operating Room. A desire to expand her OR experience eventually brought her to Edmonton.
Born and raised in Dryden, Ontario, Kristen grew up camping, fishing, and exploring the outdoors with her family. Her loves include her three dogs, her three nephews, playing hockey, and keeping fit. She also makes time for curling, painting, writing, and her significant other.
