Kosta Ikonomou

Kosta Ikonomou is a physiotherapist at the Copeman Healthcare Centre in Vancouver.

Kosta obtained his BSc (hons) in Physiotherapy from Brunel University London after completing his BSc of Human Kinetics from the University of Fraser Valley. He has also completed an MSc in Sports Medicine Exercise & Health from the University College of London.

Before starting his career as a physiotherapist, Kosta worked as an athletic trainer for the UFV men’s soccer team. After qualifying as a physiotherapist, Kosta gained a lot of his experience working in the UK in some of London’s top hospitals.  He then returned home to Vancouver to specialize in concussion/vestibular rehabilitation where he worked with BC alpine ski and Olympic snowboarders. After a 2-year stint in concussion rehabilitation, Kosta returned to the UK to work in elite sport and pursue some research in concussion. After completing his Sports Medicine Masters, Kosta worked as a physiotherapist for Chelsea FC Academy while closely collaborating with Team GB diving. He continues to be involved in concussion research. Recently, he presented his preliminary results at the British Association of Sport and Exercise Medicine annual fall (2018) conference. In Vancouver, Kosta continues to be involved in elite sport as the lead physiotherapist for the Fraser Valley Bandits of the Canadian Elite Basketball League.

Kosta looks forward to bringing his advanced clinical skills in sports medicine exercise and health, concussion, functional dry needling and vestibular management to Copeman Healthcare. He is a strong believer in exercise-based treatments and prevention strategies.

Outside the office, Kosta enjoys golfing, coffee, wine tasting and getting lost with his camera.
