Family Health Nurse Practitioner
Karin Dixon is a Family Health Nurse Practitioner at the Calgary Copeman Healthcare Centre. Karin graduated from Queen’s University with a Bachelor of Nursing Science, and practiced as a Registered Nurse in stem cell/bone marrow transplant at Foothills Medical Centre, and public health on isolated Northern First Nation’s reserves. She then returned to school at the University of British Columbia to earn a Master of Science in Nursing – Nurse Practitioner.
Prior to joining Copeman Healthcare, Karin worked at a variety of locations within Alberta Health Services as a Nurse Practitioner in full scope primary care including pediatrics, women’s health, chronic disease management, family practice, adolescent mental health and addictions, and chronic pain. In addition to her work at home, Karin combines her passions of work and travel, and has travelled to Western and Eastern Africa to volunteer and practice in rural hospitals and clinics.
In her free time, Karin enjoys basketball, the outdoors and spending time with her family and friends. Karin is also an avid off-the-beaten-track traveller with over 30 countries under her belt. She hopes to combine her personal and professional knowledge of travelling to help medically prepare Calgary’s Copeman travellers for their adventures abroad.
