Dr. Broughton is a family physician at the Copeman Healthcare Centre in Vancouver with over thirty years of medical experience.
His medical degree and post-graduate training were completed at the University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario where he grew up. He had a private practice on Vancouver’s west side for 18 years. For 7 years he was a primary care physician at Ravensong Community Health Centre, doing team-based care for under-serviced populations with complex and multiple chronic diseases.
He was a pioneer in the development of regulations for the training of Nurse Practitioners in British Columbia. He has been involved in teaching at the department of Family Medicine at the University of British Columbia from first year medical students up to Family Practice Residents. Dr. Broughton’s interests include men’s health issues, infectious disease, mental health and cancer. He is a strong believer in Osler’s dictum: “Listen to the patient and they’ll tell you what is wrong with them.”
Dr. Broughton enjoys cycling, swimming and is an avid photographer – you can see some of his work around the Vancouver and Calgary offices.
