Dr. Nathan Thakur
Family Physician

Dr. Nathan Thakur, M.D., CCFP, is a general practice physician with a firm belief in preventative health and empowering patients to reach healthy outcomes.  He obtained his medical doctorate from the University of Saskatchewan and completed his Family Medicine residency at McGill University with a focus in Emergency Medicine.  While in residency, Dr. Thakur was enrolled in the Humanitarian Studies Initiative, a joint Harvard and McGill venture to train physicians for humanitarian disaster scenarios.

Dr. Thakur has most recently worked at and remains credentialed by the Cleveland Clinic, a top 5 ranked medical Centre according to the U.S. News and World report. At Cleveland Clinic’s Canadian office, Dr. Thakur excelled at providing care to high-profile Toronto executives and sports personalities while also working to improve patient programs and experiences.

Further to this, Dr. Thakur has a number of special medical interests that he is currently developing.  In particular, Dr. Thakur is focusing on Sports Medicine and Regenerative Medicine with an eye to introducing ultrasound guided injection procedures to his practice allowing patients to better maintain the integrity of their muscles and joints.  Generally speaking, he is interested in pursuing innovative therapies and strategies that allow a patient to become the healthiest version of themselves possible.  As such, Dr. Thakur strongly believes in the integrated approach to health-care that Copeman provides and is keen to bring his ideas to the Copeman team for the benefit of all patients.

Dr. Thakur is a member of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta and Ontario.  His professional memberships include the College of Family Physicians of Canada, Canadian Academy of Sport and Exercise Medicine and the Canadian Association of Emergency Physicians.  He has previously worked for the Canadian Medical Association (CMA) and remains involved with the CMA’s MD-MP contact program.  In his spare time, Dr. Thakur loves playing soccer, enjoys all sports and is a firm Arsenal F.C. supporter.
