Dr. Melanie Levesque is a Family Physician at the Copeman Healthcare Centre in Vancouver. She received her medical degree from Laval University and completed her residency training at the University of British Columbia’s highly regarded St. Paul’s Hospital Program. During her medical training, she was actively involved in various operating and administrative committees including representing her colleagues as the program’s Chief Resident.
Dr. Levesque has a strong interest in emerging global health issues and has been fortunate to train and assist in many areas around the world including the developing country of Vanuatu, remote areas of South America, tropical environments in the Americas as well as closer to home in the interior regions of British Columbia. Given her background, she has a strong interest in sport medicine, urgent care, preventive medicine and dermatology. She recently completed a Certificate in Primary Care Skin Care Medicine certified by the University of Queensland, Australia as well as having completed her Pediatric Advance Life Support and her Advanced Cardiac Life Support programs.
Prior to becoming a physician, she studied law and practiced as a lawyer in the areas of criminal, commercial and healthcare law. Dr. Levesque has been presented with numerous awards, speaks five languages and has traveled extensively throughout the world. She strongly believes in fitness, active lifestyles and the positive impact activity has on overall health and wellness. She enjoys continually challenging herself as evidenced by successfully reaching several Andean summits over 5,000 meters, staying active with adventure races, running, swimming and particularly competitive cycling where she has trained and raced extensively in North America and Europe.
Among her various accomplishments, Dr. Levesque qualified for the World Short Course Triathlon Championships in Beijing and proudly represented Canada at the Ironman 70.3 World Triathlon Championships in both Las Vegas and Mont-Tremblant.
