Dr. Asef Javan completed his medical degree at Mashhad University in Iran in 2004, and worked as a general and occupational physician in Iran until 2008.
Dr. Javan moved to Canada in 2008 and received his Masters in Interdisciplinary Oncology from the University of British Columbia in 2011. While completing his Masters, he worked as a research assistant at the BC Cancer Agency. During his Masters, he also worked at Riverview Hospital in the inpatient psychosis department, and at Providence Care in the Queens University mood disorder department.
After completing his Masters at UBC, Dr. Javan worked as a research assistant in the general surgery department at St. Paul’s Hospital, then as a family physician in Saskatoon. Since 2014, Dr. Javan has been working as a family physician in North Vancouver.
Dr. Javan is focused on providing preventative and individualized care, based on the best evidence applicable to each individual. This evidence includes childhood history, relationship history, general medicine history, lifestyle, and more. He also has great interest in mental health.
Dr. Javan has always been passionate about athletic endeavors and played professional basketball for over 10 years. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his young family. His two children keep him and his wife very busy!
