Dr. Steve Broughton

Family Physician

Dr. Broughton is a family physician at the Copeman Healthcare Centre with over twenty-five years of medical experience.  His medical degree and post-graduate training were completed at the University of Western Ontario.  He had a private practice on Vancouver's west side for 18 years.  For the past 7 years he has been a primary care physician at Ravensong Community Health Centre, doing team-based care for underserviced  populations with complex and multiple chronic diseases.  A Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of British Columbia in the Department of Family Practice, Dr. Broughton has been involved for over 20 years in both undergraduate and post-graduate teaching in Family Practice.  He has also trained Nurse Practitioners and helped to integrate this new role in British Columbia into the primary care team, and serves on the BC Nurse Practitioner Standards Committee. Areas of particular interest and expertise include HIV/AIDS,  chronic disease and mental illness.
