Dr. Mark E. Gelfer
Family Physician
Dr. Gelfer is a family physician at the Copeman Healthcare Centre with
over twenty-five years of medical experience. He completed his
medical degree at the University of Toronto and Family Medicine
residency at the University of Ottawa. He has served as President of
the College of Family Physicians of British Columbia and is currently a
Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of British Columbia in
the Department of Family Practice.
Dr. Gelfer’s commitment to lifelong learning
earned him a Fellowship from the College of Family Physicians of Canada
in 1987. Dr. Gelfer has expertise in the diagnosis and management of
hypertension and other cardiovascular risk factors. Prior to joining
the Centre, he was the Founder and Medical Director of VSM MedTech
Ltd., and developed the BpTRU™, an instrument for monitoring
hypertension in the clinical setting. Dr. Gelfer also has a keen
interest in Sports Medicine having acted as a physician for the
Whistler Mountain Ski Patrol and team physician for the Vancouver
Canadians Baseball Club.
